Salford Foodbank’s Food Gift Box project

Our donation points are dotted around the Salford community for you to donate!

No one in our local community should have to face going hungry. But food poverty in Salford is on the increase.

That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food parcels and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. Salford Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

The Food Gift Box project started with a giant green donation point at Media City in 2020 as part of the Box on the Docks scheme supported by Peel. During the Covid lockdown dozens of supporters had donation points set up in their front gardens and driveways for their neighbourhood to donate food to the Foodbank. Volunteer drivers then picked up the donations to be sorted at the Foodbank warehouse.

The project has now developed. We now have collection points across Salford – in supermarkets, at workplaces, churches and community groups. We want to make donating easy and accessible to everyone. If you would like to donate you can find your nearest donation point on the map below.
